Julious Threatts, 21, faces several charges including trespassing on school grounds and violation of probation. He was taken into custody on Tuesday.
Threatts allegedly registered at Webb Middle School using a fake birth certificate that indicated he was 14-year-old Chad Jordan.
Authorities also said he had signed up to play with a team in the Tampa Bay Youth Football League, which is intended for chidren ages 5 through 14. They said Threatts played one game with the team, on Aug. 21, before his real age was discovered.
Investigators said they learned his real identity when a school resource officer received a call from a social worker about a juvenile runaway.
Deputies took Threatts into custody on the first day of school, thinking he was the runaway. Investigators said that while he was in custody, his cell phone rang.
Deputies said that on the other end of the line was his mother, who said that Threatts was not a 14-year-old middle-schooler, but rather a 21-year-old man.
Investigators say they aren’t sure why Threatts would pretend to be student, but that it’s not the first time he has faked documentation to play in a youth league.
Opinion: I can’t believe this is still happening. At what point does someone look at him and say to themselves, he is no way 14. Julious Threatts you are an IDIOT!
